Giving birth in the Democratic Republic of Congo - BBC World News

BBC World News will broadcast a documentary today - Tuesday September 8th 2009 - which explores how women, men & children are affected by the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Dr Grace Kodindo, a leading advocate for women's reproductive health and rights, highlights how health professionals & existing facilities are coping with the increased risks to mothers and their babies as a result of the fighting. Dr. Kodindo talks to ordinary civilians, dcoctors, nurses and survivors to find answers.
BBC World News will broadcast "Grace Under Fire" at the following times:
- Tuesday September 8th at 19:30 GMT
- Wednesday September 9th at 12:30 GMT (Asia Pacific only)
- Thursday September 10th at 15:30 GMT
- Friday September 11th at 01:30 GMT (except Asia Pacific, South Asia & Middle East)
The documentary was produced by Television for the Environment as part of it's Life on Edge series and filmed by award winning director Bruno Sorrentino. The WHO Regional Office for Africa contributed to the production of this film.
