Improving implementation of maternal mortality reduction programmes in South Asia

Posted: Thursday Jan 28, 2010

Immpact & Ipact researchers have co-authored a paper recently published in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

This study identified innovations, practices and ideas aimed to improve implementation of maternal mortality reduction projects and programmes in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan.

The authors found that some - but not all - of the innovations they looked at were supported by evidence of effect. They recommend that proper evaluation is necessary before encouraging widespread adoption of these ideas and practices in order to successfully narrow the "know-do" gap.
